DETROIT, MI -- The Detroit Red Wings have struck first in the Western Conference semifinals, scoring three power-play goals while building a 4-0 lead in a 4-1 win over Dallas.
Brian Rafalski, Johan Franzen and Tomas Holmstrom tallied with
the man advantage before Valterri Filppula made it 4-0 with 4:23 remaining in the second period.
Franzen extended a team record with his 12th goal of the playoffs.
He also matched a club mark by stretching his postseason
goal-scoring streak to five games.
Chris Osgood handled 20 shots and blanked the Stars until
Brenden Morrow beat him with 1:07 left in the second period. Osgood
and the Red Wings are 7-and-0 since he replaced Dominik Hasek in the nets.
Marty Turco handled 27 shots while falling to 0-8-and-2 lifetime
at Joe Louis Arena.
Game 2 is Saturday in Detroit.
