Iola Bulldogs are again without a head football coach.
Iola School Superintendent Doug Devine confirmed this afternoon that he's again hanging out the help wanted sign.
Last Monday the Iola School Board approved the hiring of Robert Shiflett, but now 8 days later Shiflett has resigned.
Shiflett was the the only finalist for the post that was vacated by Rick Prater last month after just one year on the job.
Shiflett's first official day as the Bulldogs head football coach was Monday and his last day was Tuesday.
Devin said he told Shiflett he would be able to bring in a coach to join his staff, but for whatever reason they couldn't come to an agreement with any of the coaches that Shiflett wanted.
So he resigned.
According to Anderson-Shiro Athletic Director Robert Wisnoski, Shiflett is coming back to the Owls.
Devin said he should know Wednesday what direction the hiring process will take as the Bulldogs look to hire their 3rd head football coach since Randy McDougald retired after 17 years on the job a year ago.
