AMES, IA -- Iowa State forward Wesley Johnson is planning to transfer.
A member of Johnson's family told Iowa State coach Greg McDermott of his plans last Thursday night. McDermott flew to
Johnson's hometown in Corsicana, Texas on Saturday to discuss the
matter. But McDermott says Johnson had already made up his mind.
Johnson would have to sit out next season per NCAA transfer
rules. He will have two years of eligibility left.
The loss of Johnson, one of the Big 12's most talented young
players, could be a crushing blow to the Cyclones. He battled
through a stress fracture in his foot and averaged 12.4 points per
game last season. He was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman team in
