LUBBOCK -- Texas Tech lineman Stephen Hamby faces an aggravated assault charge for allegedly punching a man in the face -- twice -- in March.
A grand jury in Lubbock has indicted the starting center in a
dispute allegedly over a parking spot.
Hamby's attorney, Tom Pitts, declined comment today.
Hamby is accused of punching the man during an off-campus
altercation. The victim suffered a fractured jaw and was treated at
a Lubbock hospital.
A police report says Hamby fled the scene.
Hamby is a 6-foot-3, 287-pound junior from San Antonio Alamo
Tech coach Mike Leach, who was aware of the altercation, says he wants to see what the facts are -- and then address the situation
based on the facts.
