COLLEGE STATION -- Chris Wallace's two-RBI double off the right-center field wall with one out and the bases loaded in the top of the eleventh inning helped lift Houston to a 14-11 victory over Illinois-Chicago this afternoon at Olsen Field.
Wallace, a catcher, led the Cougars with three hits and three
RBIs, while teammate Bryan Pounds added three RBIs. Jake Stewart
also collected three hits and two RBIs for the winners.
Reliever Chase Dempsay earned the victory by allowing two hits
and an unearned run over two innings.
The Cougars led 11-7 in the ninth before the Flames rallied for
four runs on the strength of a two-RBI single by Tony Altavilla,
and a wild pitch by Dempsay that scored the tying run.
The third-seeded Cougars went on to defeat Texas A&M 4-3 tonight
to force a title game tomorrow against the Aggies.
