AUSTIN -- Snyder scored two runs in the eighth to beat Pleasant Grove 3-2 and win the Class 3A baseball championship today.
Snyder's Chad Franks drove in a run with a two-out double in the
top of the inning and scored the eventual game winner on a throwing
error by Pleasant Grove.
Down 3-1, Pleasant Grove got within 3-2 when Jon Phillips scored
on a Snyder error. Pleasant Grove had two runners on base when
Snyder's Brent Bollinger got Michael Wacha to hit a grounder to
short for the final out.
Bollinger pitched a complete game for Snyder (35-8), allowing
three hits and striking out nine. Wacha, who pitched 3 1-3 innings,
took the loss for Pleasant Grove (25-9).
