Cards Hand Astros 9th Loss in Last 13 Meetings

By  |

HOUSTON - Adam Wainwright shut down Houston before leaving
with a sprained finger and Ryan Ludwick hit a three-run homer to
help the Cardinals beat the Astros 8-4 on Saturday night.
Troy Glaus also homered and Skip Schumaker had a single, double
and two-run triple for the Cardinals, who beat the Astros for the
ninth time in the last 13 meetings.
Wainwright (6-3) left in the sixth inning with a sprained right
middle finger, another blow to a pitching staff ravaged by injuries
this season. He pitched well before that, improving to 5-0 in his
last six starts against the Astros.
