COLLEGE STATION -- The two major polls may differ somewhat, but both agree the Texas A&M men's and women's track and field teams will be contenders for major honors at the NCAA meet starting Wednesday.
The Aggies will have 34 competitors, the most of any school, at Des Moines, IA.
The United States Track and Field / Cross Country Coaches Association women's poll has LSU ranked first with A&M second.
The Track & Field News, which bills itself as the Bible of the sport, has a slightly different formchart with LSU on top followed by Arizona State second and the Ag women third.
On the men's side, the USTFCCCA list has LSU leading the way, followed by Florida State and the Aggies third.
Track & Field News has a different spin for the men with the following top-five:
1- Florida State
5- Texas A&M
The Aggie men and women will be chasing the school's first national track & field team titles.
