IRVING -- Terrell Owens wasn't on the field for the start of the Dallas Cowboys mandatory offseason minicamp today - and the volatile receiver might not be there the rest of the week.
Team officials say Owens missed the first workout today while
tending to a personal matter. Owens did, however, attend morning
meetings before leaving the Valley Ranch facility.
It wasn't clear what the nature of the personal matters were,
nor if Owens would be on the field for any part of the three-day
minicamp that ends Thursday.
There's no comment from team owner Jerry Jones, but coach Wade
Phillips is scheduled to meet with reporters later today in a
previously scheduled briefing.
Owens participated in optional workouts the past four weeks.
Heading into the final year of his contract, the 34-year-old
flamboyant receiver recently signed a three-year extension worth
around 27 million dollars through the 2011 season.
