Oklahoma Strikes Oil, Tops Texas In Wichita Falls

By  |

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (AP) - Duncan's Trent Wilkins scored on a
65-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, and Oklahoma held on
for a 17-16 win over Texas in the 71st Oil Bowl.
Texas lined up for a 50-yard field goal attempt with 33 seconds
left, but the snap went awry and a desperation pass by South
Garland's Nick Florence was broken up by Nick Giles.
Wilkins, who will attend Tulsa, ran for 105 yards on 11 carries
and threw for 70 yards and another score. He was the game's
offensive MVP.
Texas leads the all-time series, 44-18-1.
