COLLEGE STATION -- Texas A&M women’s basketball head coach Gary Blair hit a hole-in-one Thursday at the famous Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C.

A Dallas native who plays golf throughout the year, Blair recorded the extremely rare feat on the par-3 sixth hole of the Tom Fazio designed No. 4 course which will host the upcoming 2008 U.S. Amateur Championship on August 18-24. Officially opened in 2000, Course No. 4 offers a championship challenge to those who dare, including over 140 pot bunkers that dot the landscape. It also offers some of the most picturesque scenes at Pinehurst, including the 13th and 14th water holes.

Blair is among a 16-member group of Traveling Aggies spending the week at Pinehurst which most notably played host to the U.S. Open Golf Championships in 1999 and 2005. The Traveling Aggies Program, coordinated by the Association of Former Students on the Texas A&M campus, offers former students, their families and friends the chance to travel among the camaraderie of fellow Aggies while experiencing local customs, lifestyles and educational opportunities throughout the nation and world.
