DALLAS (AP) - The Dallas Stars have signed forward Sean Avery to a 15.5 million dollar, four-year deal.
Avery, in 86 games with the New York Rangers over the last two
seasons, was 50-20-16 with him in the lineup and 9-13-3 without
Avery this past season tied his NHL best of 15 goals and had 18
assists in 57 games. He had four goals and three assists in eight

He made a mark by prompting the so-called "Avery Rule."
Avery, in a first-round game against New Jersey, set up in front
of New Jersey goalie Martin Brodeur and blocked the goalie's view
by waving his hand and stick.
The move was outlawed the next day.
-- the Stars have signed 22-year-old tight wing B.J. Crombeen to
a one-year deal that will pay him $550,000 for the 2008-09 season
at the NHL level.
Crombeen appeared in eight regular season games with Dallas last
season, getting two assists and 39 penalty minutes. He was
scoreless in five Stanley Cup Playoff games.
He skated in 65 games with the AHL's Iowa Stars.
