Rice Baseball Coach Reaches A Contract Extension

By  |

HOUSTON -- Seventy-two-year-old Rice baseball coach Wayne
Graham says he's reached a verbal agreement on a two-year contract
extension.

KRIV television reports Graham, who had three years left on his
contract, will now be coaching the Owls baseball team until he's
77.

Graham says he'd like to keep coaching until he's 80 -- if he's
healthy and effective.

Graham this year led Rice to its 13th consecutive conference
championship and its eighth trip to the College World Series.

He took over the Owl's baseball program in 1992. Four years
later Rice won its first ever conference baseball championship in
the then Southwest Conference.
