The annual Buccaneer Alumni Lettermen Association golf tournament will be held on Aug. 16 following the Blinn College football team’s scrimmage. The move from June will allow the public and former players to see this year’s football team in action before hitting the links in the afternoon. Proceeds from the golf tournament benefit the Blinn College athletics program.
The association is accepting team registration and also is seeking sponsors. The entry fee for the 18-hole, four-person scramble is $400 per team. The cost includes four banquet tickets, green fees and carts. The entry deadline is Aug. 11. The first 36 teams will be accepted for the 1 p.m. shotgun start at the Brenham Country Club. Prizes including Odyssey putters, Nike golf bags, shirts, and Coca-Cola coolers will be awarded to the winning teams and to the winners of the longest drive and closest-to-the-hole contest.
Tournament sponsorships are available for $500 and hole sponsorships for $100. Tournament sponsors will receive one entry into the golf tournament and recognition as a sponsor. Hole sponsors will be recognized on the golf course. Sponsorships are tax deductible.
The golf tournament raises more than $15,000 enabling the association to continue supporting the Blinn College Foundation and the James H. Atkinson and the Walter C. Schwartz endowed scholarships.
