A local track group known as the College Station Sprinters has a very special distinction: they have a chance to go for the gold.
Fifty one young runners have qualified for the AAU Junior Olympics to be held in Detriot, Michigan at the end of the month, and Jay Whitehead, assistant coach of the Sprinters, hosted a speed camp for youth in the Brazos Valley over the weekend.
The Team Elite camp focused on building speed and agility by teaching the fundamentals of running, all while instilling confidence with positive reinforcement.
If you would like to make a donation to make it possible for these young people to compete in Detriot, you can contact Josie's Hands, a non-profit organization in Bryan at (979) 575-8395.
