Texans Look For More From Walter; Add A Running Back

By  |

HOUSTON -- Coach Gary Kubiak was certain Kevin Walter would be a success from the moment he arrived in Houston.
Walter was signed soon after Kubiak was hired by the Texans in
2006 and the coach raved about him from Day One -- even though
Walter had less than 300 yards receiving in his first three NFL
seasons combined.
His impact was minimal his first year in Houston, but he lived
up to the promise Kubiak saw last year and had 800 yards receiving
and four touchdowns.
Not surprisingly, Kubiak believes he can do much more.
Kubiak says Walter is a special worker.
Walter is looking to make another jump this season.
He says he's already trying to be better.
Notes: Running back Chris Brown missed practice today after
receiving an injection for back pain the day before. He did some
light jogging while the team went through morning workouts. ...
Houston signed running back Mike Bell and released free safety
Brandon Mitchell today. Bell was released by Denver last week after
running for 680 yards in 20 games with the Broncos. Mitchell spent
most of last season on Houston's practice squad.
