ARLINGTON, Texas - The Texas Rangers placed rookie
right-hander Eric Hurley on the 15-day disabled list prior to
tonight's game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The move opened a spot for right-hander Tommy Hunter, who was
called up from Triple-A Oklahoma to make his first major league
start against Toronto a few hours later.
The Rangers also recalled infielder Travis Metcalf from
Oklahoma, optioned infielder Ryan Roberts to the same club, and
transferred left-hander Kason Gabbard from the 15- to the 60-day
Hurley was scheduled to start Friday night, but was scratched
earlier this week due to right shoulder inflammation. He tried to
play catch today but said his arm "felt a little uncomfortable"
and shut down the session.
