John Mark Stallings Passes Away At 46 Save Email Print

John Mark Stallings, the son of Aggie Gene Stallings passed away Saturday morning. John Mark was born with down syndrome and suffered from health problems related to a congenital heart defect. He was 46 years old.

Coach Stallings and John Mark were known for the book "Another Season" which talked about the challenges of raising a child with down syndrome.

The University of Alabama football equipment room was formally dedicated as the "John Mark Stallings Equipment Room" on December 8, 2005. Gene Stalling was the Head Coach at Alabama from 1990 - 1996.

Funeral arrangements for John Mark Stallings are pending.

As a Mom of a 5.5 year old with Down syndrome and a CHD, I have to celebrate your approach to life with your son. It paved the way for future generations. THANK YOU! I hope that knowing your son helped many many new parents will help you during your times of grief. May The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit help you enjoy the peace that your son is enjoying in Heaven!

My prayers are with the Stallings family. I always respected Gene Stallings for just being himself, and you could see the love John Mark's family had for him. I hope God will comfort his family.
