COLLEGE STATION -- Texas A&M soccer takes to the pitch for the Maroon & White Game on Saturday at the Aggie Soccer Stadium. The match is slated for 7:30 p.m and admission is free to the public.
Prior to kickoff are plenty of events sure to lure fans early. Starting at 4 p.m. is the second annual "Aggie Soccer 101" seminar held at the Zone Club at Kyle Field. The Coach G Charity Bash gets underway at 6 p.m. at the Aggie Soccer Stadium.
"This is a fun night because it's an opportunity for us to expose some new personalities to our fans, for our fans to get a glimpse of what these players look like on the field and also to come and be around one of the things we are most proud of and that's charity and and community involvement," A&M head coach G Guerrieri said.
The Coach G Charity Bash is an event to raise money for the the Alexis Verzal fund. Every penny raised goes towards paying the medical expenses of Alexis Verzal as she works to overcome brain trauma injuries. Admission to the bash is free, but all donations are appreciated.
Soccer 101 participants are able to dine with A&M players and coaches, hear an interactive lecture on the rules and regulations of the game and get an inside peek on the game tactics of Texas A&M soccer. Tickets are $25 and are available by contacting Shelley at the 12th Man Foundation at (979) 260-7595.
The Aggies return six starters and 12 letterwinners from a 2007 squad that captured its fourth-straight Big 12 regular season title and earned its 13th consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. The 2008 version of A&M soccer adds a top-10 recruiting class made up of 12 talented newcomers.
