DALLAS (AP) - A Texas-sized homecoming celebration at the
Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is planned for Olympic gold
medalist Nastia Liukin.
Liukin, of Parker, Texas, will be feted on Thursday upon her
return from Beijing.
A statement from the Frisco Convention and Visitors Bureau and
the WOGA Gymnastics Academy says Liukin and her family are
scheduled to arrive Thursday on a United Airlines flight at 4:13
p.m.
The celebration will be held at Terminal B, Gate 35.
Parker mayor Joe Cordina says a parade planned Saturday for Olympic gold medalist Nastia Liukin has been postponed because of Wednesday's heavy downpour.
Cordina says the town had received 9 inches of rain, turning a
10-acre lot at Victory Church into mush and making it hard for
vehicles and horses to navigate.
Cordina says the new date will be some time within the next
eight days.
Liukin won five medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, including
gold in the women's all-around gymnastic finals.
Parker is about 19 miles north-northeast of Dallas.
