The United States baseball team, managed by former Aggie player Davey Johnson, earned the bronze medal in the final appearance, at least for now, for the sport in the Olympic Games.
The U.S was down 4-1 entering the bottom of the third when Matt Brown launched a three-run home run over the left field fence to knot the game at four runs apiece.
The Americans unleashed four more runs in the fifth inning thanks to a two-run double from Taylor Teagarden and a two-run home run from Jason Donald to set the final score at 8-4.
The bronze medal is the third overall won by the U.S. in the Olympic Games in baseball. The 2000 team won gold in Sydney while the 1996 team won bronze in Atlanta.
