PARAMUS, N.J. - Vijay Singh (sihng) has won The Barclays
for a record fourth time. He defeated Sergio Garcia with a birdie
on the second extra hole.
The 45-year-old Fijian closed with a 1-under 70 to match Garcia
and Kevin Sutherland at 8-under 276 on the sun-baked Ridgewood
Country Club course in suburban New Jersey. This was the first time
the event was held there.
Singh won in 1993, 1995 and 2006 at Westchester Country Club.
This was his 33rd PGA Tour victory. He takes the lead after the
first event of the PGA Tour's playoff format.
