INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The NCAA suspends Oklahoma State point guard Andrea Riley for a game for fighting with an LSU player last
NCAA officials also reprimanded Riley and said she'll have to
serve the suspension during the first round of the upcoming women's
The suspension stems from an incident involving LSU's Erica
White in a regional semifinal game OSU lost 67-to-52.
After the two had banged against each other much of the game,
Riley appeared to take a swipe at White's head. No foul was called.
The vice president for Division I women's basketball said the
NCAA committee was very disappointed in Riley's actions. Sue
Donohoe also said the situation violated the principles of fair
play and sportsmanship.
Riley led the Big 12 Conference in scoring, averaging 23.1
She led OSU to only its second appearance in the NCAA tournament
round of 16.
