LITTLE ROCK (AP) - Arkansas State's last visit to Texas A&M was
a unique experience for the visiting coaches.
Arkansas State coach Steve Roberts, who was coaching the team
then called the Indians, said today that his coaches in the
pressbox saw a note that said, quote, "Don't be alarmed when the
press box begins to sway."
He said they didn't think anything about it until the press box
began to sway 12 inches to the right and then 12 inches to the left
as the Aggie fans made themselves heard -- and felt.
Roberts said the coaches couldn't write because the press box
was swaying so much, and exclaimed "Oh, my gosh" over the audio
linkup with coaches on the sidelines.
Amid that intimidating atmosphere, Arkansas State lost 26-11 in
2003.
ASU heads back to College Station on Saturday to play the Aggies
in this season's opener for both teams.
The 2003 game that Roberts recalled was the debut of Texas A&M
coach Dennis Franchione.
This Saturday, Mike Sherman will coach his first game for the
Aggies.
