ROUND ROCK -- The A&M Consolidated Tigers committed four turnovers against Round Rock McNeil and lost their season opener 26-3.
The Tigers had three turnovers in the first half alone that lead to 19 McNeil points.
It wasn't until the Tiger Band got on the field at halftime, that the Consol fans that made the two hour drive to Round Rock ISD Stadium finally had something to smile about.
The only other bright spot for the Bengals was a 35 yard field goal by Matt Stoll in the second half.. A&M Consolidated did roll up 190 yards of total offense, but it wouldn't be nearly enough to challenge the Mavericks.
McNeil tallied 378 yards of total offense with Adrian Smith accounting for 133 yards on 15 carries and 2 touchdowns. Reginald Cole added 89 yards on 13 carries and two touchdowns. On one of those touchdown runs, Cole broke four tackles on his way to the end zone.
Jim Slaughter and his Tigers have 8 days to get ready for their next game which will be a week from Saturday when A&M Consolidated travels to the Berry Center to take on Cypress Woods. Kickoff is set for 6 o'clock on September 6.
