LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Bo and Carl Pelini hope to reap immediate
improvement from largely the same cast of characters on Nebraska's
defense. The head coach and defensive coordinator say the
Cornhuskers got off to a decent start.
Five defensive starters from the last game of the 2007 season
were in the lineup for last night's 47-24 win over Western
Defensive end Barry Turner said an attitude adjustment has
occurred under the Pelinis. Turner said the defenders have a
brotherhood like he's never been part of before.
Middle linebacker Phillip Dillard said busted coverages were not
the result of a lack of trying. He said nobody got down. He said
the players encouraged each other to play hard.
