Leander -- The Bryan Vikings picked up their first road win of the 2008 season by beating Leander 31 - 24 at Bible Memorial Stadium Thursday night.
On Bryan's first offensive play of the game Monterrell Washington ran 64 yards for a touchdown to give the Vikings a 7 - 0 lead. Bryce Angel came up with an interception to set up a Matt Little 31 yard field goal to put the Vikings up 10 - 0. Later in the first quarter Washington scored on a one yard touchdown run to extend the Bryan lead to 17 - 0.
Leander got on the board just before the end of the first quarter. Taylor Ratcliff connencted with John Kelley for a 60 yard touchdown to cut the Viking lead to 17 - 7. A Nekechie Miller interception set up a Daniel Esparaza 34 yard field goal to pull the Lions to with seven points. Bryan scored before the half on an Albert Garza one yard touchdown run. The Vikings led 24 - 10 at the half.
Leander scored the first 14 points of the second half. Donald Taylor scored on a one yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Ratcliff hooked up with Ryan Atkin in the fourth quarter for an 84 yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 24. Washington capped off the scoring with a six yard touchdown run to give Bryan the win.
The Vikings will be back home Friday September 12 to face McNeil.
