With few players coming back the Cubs knew it would take some time to get all those new flavors blended together. They got taste of success early against Mayde Creek a week ago, only to fall 17-10. Tonight against the Westbury Rebels.
The Rebels, down 22 - 8 in the 3rd, cut into the home team's lead when Khalum Brewer dumps the underneath pass to Ke'von Williams. His 15 yard makes it 22 - 14.
But the Cubs would have an answer. On the ensuing kick off, Kendrick Washington gathers the ball and finds a little daylight. He'll get some bonus real estate courtesy of a 15 yard facemask penalty.
Then it's Keith Sanders turn. He gets the pitch and hits a seam just big enough to find the secondary. Then it's just a matter of speed and closing distance. His 32 yard score makes it 29 - 14. But the Brenham empire will not strike back as the rebels take this one in overtime, 43 - 36.
