OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The No. 18-ranked Texas A&M women’s golf team is tied for 10th place after Sunday's opening two rounds of the Duramed NCAA Fall Preview at Caves Valley Golf Course.
The Aggies posted rounds of 308-304=612 to trail leader and No. 9 Georgia (579) by 33 strokes going into Monday's final round of the season-opening event. A&M is tied with No. 6 Denver and leads No. 24 Arkansas (616), No. 11 Florida (620), No. 7 Purdue (621) and Georgetown (654).
Senior Lauren Johnson paced the Aggies with a 74-76=150 total and is tied for 26th. Junior Ashley Freeman is tied for 35th (78-74=152), sophomore Sarah Zwartynski is tied for 42nd (78-76=154), freshman Crystal Reeves is in 49th (78-78=156) and senior Jodi Neal is tied for 70th (83-84=167).
Virginia's Jennie Arseneault is the individual leader at six-under-par (68-70=138).
“We were a little rusty but we started getting back in the groove in the second round," A&M Coach Trelle McCombs said. "Playing in the best field in the country is a blast but we still have some work to do.”
