2008 Pilgrim's Pride Bowl Cancelled Due to Economic Struggles

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- After four years of existence, the 2008 Pilgrim’s Pride Bowl Classic set to take place on December 13, 2008 in Mt. Pleasant, TX has been cancelled. Due to significant economic challenges faced by the Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation this year, the company made the decision to remove the bowl game from the 2008 schedule.

“It was a difficult decision,” said Mt. Pleasant Independent School Superintendent Terry Myers and Pilgrim Pride Corporations’ Cheri Schneider. “One that the company hopes to be able to reconsider at some point in the future.”

With the addition of the Mississippi Bowl and the North Star Bowl (two games), the NJCAA football post-season remains strong with eight games for the 2008 season.
