Franklin -- The Franklin Lions beat Groveton Thursday night 41 - 14 at Hedrick Field.
Scott Sanders got the scoring started with a one yard touchdown run in the first quarter. The touchdown capped off an 84 yard drive and gave the Lions a 7 - 0 lead.
Groveton got on the board in the second quarter when Calvin Williams hit Freddie Martinez for a 30 yard touchdown. That tied the game at seven.
Franklin jumped back in front later in the second quarter on a Jake Russ one yard touchdown run.
Franklin will be back on their home field September 19 to take on New Waverly at 7:30.
Groveton will be on the road to play Warren September 19 at 7:30.
