College Station -- The Burton Panthers beat the Normangee Panthers 36 - 8 Friday night at Tiger Stadium in College Station.
Burton got on the board first when Whitley Reed was tackled in the end zone by Brandon Patterson as Normangee tried to punt. The safety gave Burton a 2 - 0 lead.
The Panthers scored the first touchdown of the game in the second quarter on a Gabriel Patterson three yard run. That put Burton up 9 - 0. Bobby Mathis scored on a quarterback sneak just before the half to give Burton a 16 - 0 lead.
Brandon Patterson scored on a 65 yard touchdown run on the fourth quarter to push the Burton lead to 23 - 0.
Normangee got on the scoreboard when Justin Mullinnix hit Reed with a five yard touchdown pass. The two point conversion was good cutting the Burton lead to 23 - 8.
Brandon Patterson would find the end zone again, this time from 13 yards out to put Burton up 29 - 8. Daniel Patterson- capped off the scoring with a one yard touchdown run.
Nomrangee will be on the road September 26 to face Bartlett. Burton will be at home to take on Granger.
