BRYAN- The St. Joseph Eagles won a wild Crosstown Showdown of the private school variety Friday night, topping the Brazos Christian Eagles, 36-34.
This was the second game at the new BCS Eagle Stadium, and the home team wasted no time getting on the board.
Chad Milburn weaved his way six yards for a 7-nothing advantage.
The visiting Eagles put up the equalizer on a short keeper by quarterback Alec Castilleja.
The scoring would be fast, furious, and close all night.
Castilleja would run for a pair of short touchdowns, while throwing scoring strikes to Chad Peevey and Kyle Brightwell.
Devorderick Brown dashed 41 yards for what proved to be the clinching points in the fourth quarter.
St. Joseph could neither stop nor contain Milburn as he scored five touchdowns.
His running kept BCS in the game, but the Eagles fell to 2-&-1 on the season.
They visit the Woodlands Christian Friday.
St. Joseph is 3-&-0 and preparing for a road trip to Milano Friday.
