ALMATY, Kazakhstan -- Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance
Armstrong will join Team Astana for his return to competitive
Business officials with ties to the Kazakhstan-based cycling team told The Associated Press today Armstrong will make the announcement at a news conference in New York later in the day.
The Kazakh businessmen spoke on condition of anonymity because
they didn't want to pre-empt the formal announcement.
Nikolai Proskurin, deputy head of Kazakhstan's Cycling
Federation, confirmed Armstrong would be making an announcement
with Team Astana but refused to comment further.
Astana team leader is Johan Bruyneel, who was Armstrong's team director for all of his Tour de France victories.
