Many of the area 2-.A teams are taking their open date before kicking off district play next week.
Among the few, the proud, the brave, the afro'ed, playing tonight is Hempstead. The Bobcats battle Austin Reagan.
A sloppy shotgun scenario surfaces when Eric Neal sails it up high over Antonio Ragston's head. The oddly shaped ball ends up in Jermiah Wooley's hands and he's got 6 and the lead.
Ragston and Neal have no trouble with the snap here. Trent Nash's spinner grab gashes the Raider secondary for a 17 yard gain to the Austin Reagan 6.
Hempstead running back, Chris Busby, finishes the drive strong. He goes 6 yards to the endzone and puts the Cats up 8 -6.
The Raiders answer with the age of JaQuarius, JaQuarius Daniels that is. He finds Jalyn Harris on the down and out for the touch and puts the Raiders back on top.
Austin Reagan comes out with the win. Final score Austin Reagan 22, Hempstead 14.
Hempstead will be taking on Brazos at home, in a district game, next week.
