HUNTSVILLE -- Jenny Pence, Sam Houston State sophomore goalkeeper from Kingwood, has been named as Southland Conference women's soccer "Goalkeeper of the Weekend" after a pair of shut out victories the opening weekend of SLC action.
Pence extended her streak of scoreless minutes in goal to 577 with a pair of road shutouts at Nicholls State and Southeastern Louisiana.
She has not given up a goal since August 29 as Sam Houston State and has rolled up 7 consecutive shutout victories. Her 7-2 record marks the most wins in one season for SHSU
Pence ranks fifth in NCAA Division I women's soccer in save percentage (.902) and No. 18 in goals against average (0.579).
As a team, Sam Houston is No. 2 in the nation in shutout percentage (.778)
Pence has played 732 minutes in goal this season for Sam Houston, registering 46 games.
Sam Houston is 7-2 for the year, the most victories in any of the program's six seasons.
