COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M women’s tennis team returns to action this weekend at two separate tournaments.
Junior Elzé Potgieter and sophomore Christi Liles will participate in the Midland Racquet Club Invitational, Oct. 10-12, in Midland, Texas. The remaining five players will participate in the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center College Tennis Invitational, Oct. 11-13, in Flushing, N.Y.
The Aggies sport a combined 21-7 mark in singles and 6-3 in doubles after opening the fall season against players from Alabama, Wisconsin and Marquette at the Milwaukee Tennis Invitational last month.
Potgieter is the No. 1 seed in the 64-player singles bracket in Midland, and she and Liles both have a first-round bye. Potgieter will face the winner between Nicola Matovicova of Texas-Arlington and Emily Braid of Rice in the second round. Liles will take on the winner between Vivien Silfany of Boise State and Madura Ranganathan of North Texas.
Teams from across the country will be represented in Midland, including Big 12 Conference teams Baylor Nebraska and Texas Tech. Other teams participating include Pepperdine, Miami (Ohio), Texas-El Paso, Abilene Christian and Tyler Junior College.
