Navasota -- The Navasota Rattlers beat the Caldwell Hornets 28 - 27 Friday night at Rattler Stadium.
Caldwell scored late in the fourth quarter on a Trenton Sims touchdown pass to Eli Gage. That pulled the Hornets to with in a point. Caldwell went for a two point conversion to take the lead but Navasota came up with the stop to keep the lead. The Rattlers recovered an onside to kick to seal the win.
Caldwell jumped out a 14 - 0 lead in the second quarter. Navasota got on the scoreboard when Dexter Pratt scored on a 21 yard touchdown run. The Hornets answered that with a 32 yard touchdown pass from Trenton Sims to Randel Lister. Pratt scored on a 2 yard touchdown run to cut Caldwell lead to 21 - 14 at the half.
Navasota quarterback Jacolby Stokes ran for pair of scores in the fourth quarter to give Navasota the lead.
Navasota will be on the road October 17 to face Rockdale. Caldwell will be off next week. The Hornets play again October 24 when they host Rockdale.
