HEARNE -- The Hearne Eagles opened up District 20-2A play with a 52-6 over Leon.
The Eagles and Cougars get a bit sloppy with the football to start the game as each team fumbled the ball on its opening possession.
Second possession for Hearne and the Eagles find the end zone, Justin Evans finishes the drive on the 3 yard run to make it 6 to nothing Eagles mid way through the 1st quarter.
Hearne will increase it's lead to 20 to nothing in the 2nd quarter, when Leon gets on the board.
Garrett McCune with the 9 yard scoring strike to Justin Padgett. The ball was tipped by a Hearne defender, but Padgett comes down with it to cut the Eagles lead to 20-6.
That would be all the luck Leon would have in this one as Hearne rolls off 26 unanswered points.
Brandon Workmon in at quarterback with 1:30 left in the first half, he gets hit as he lets the ball go, but Justin Evans is able to track down the wounded duck and after breaking a tackle takes it 56 yards for the score and a 26 to nothing lead.
Hearne Offensive Coordinator, Broderick McGrew decides to go for 2 and he calls Kenneth Jones Junior's number.
Jones will not be denied the end zone as he collides with the Leon defense at the pylon. Jones is signaled in as Hearne goes onto win it 52 to 6.
The Eagles have won three in a row after starting the season with a pair of losses.
Hearne will try to keep the winning streak going as it host Marlin next week back at Wood Field at 7:30. Marlin lost to Teague Friday night 55-34.
