COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) - Kansas State snapped its five-game losing streak against Texas A&M with a 44-30 win over the Aggies today.
The victory brings the Wildcats record to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in
the Big 12. The Aggies continue to struggle. Their record falls to
2-4 overall and 0-2 in the Big 12.
The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead after a 32-yard pass
from quarterback Josh Freeman to Brandon Banks and a 12-yard run
just over three minutes into the game.
Freeman completed 21 of 26 passes and ran for four touchdowns in the game.
The Wildcats special team came through big with a blocked punt
and score to stretch their lead to 13-3 after the Aggies scored on
a 26-yard field goal at the Kansas State 9.
The Wildcats led 27-10 at the half but the Aggies tried to make
it close in the second half.
They came up short after the K-State defense stuffed Aggies
running back Jorvorskie Lane twice at the goal line midway through
the fourth quarter.
A&M quarterback Jerrod Johnson completed 29 of 41 passes and a
school-record 419 yards. Johnson finished with 487 yards overall,
also a school record.
