WELLBORN- After a weekend of upsets, Texas tops the A.P. college football poll.

The 'Horns, who were fifth in last week's poll, staked their claim to
the top spot with a 45-35 win over then number-1 Oklahoma
yesterday.

The Sooners drop from first to fourth, while OSU leaps from 17 to 8.

Mizzou falls eight notches, while Texas Tech and Kansas do not move.

with first-place votes in parentheses, records through Oct. 11,
total points based on 25 points for a first-place vote through one
point for a 25th-place vote, and previous ranking:
