Red Raiders Claim They Don't Understand Some A&M Traditions

COLLEGE STATION -- It's always interesting when Texas Tech shows up on the A&M football schedule. It's not a hated rivalry, like Oklahoma - Texas, but it's certainly gotten heated since the inception of the Big 12.
The Red Raiders have won 9 of the 12 meetings in dirty dozen play including a trio of lopsided wins over the Aggies in 2003 (59-28), 2005 (56-17), and 2007 (35-7).
Besides winning, Texas Tech hasn't always been gracious in victory. There was the goal post incident in 2001 following a 12-0 win. The Red Raider faithful not only tore down the goal posts at Jones Stadium following the win, but then shoved the goal post into the stands where the A&M fans were sitting.
Both teams met with the media in their respective cities on Monday. A&M Head Football Coach Mike Sherman had nothing but positive things to say about the undefeated and 7th ranked Red Raiders.
“I look at this as a great opportunity for us, whether it’s Tech or anybody else, to a play highly ranked team like Tech that has had the success they've had this year. They deserve the attention they’re getting," said Sherman.
Meanwhile up on the Caprock, the Red Raiders spent part of their time talking about A&M's Corps Of Cadets.
"I've never been a real big fan of it. There's a lot of them when they come marching in before the games. The ROTC, I don't even know what it is, the fake army. I don't know if that's a good thing to say or not. I really don't understand it," said Tech H-Receiver Eric Morris. "They have great traditions there, you have to respect that. Some of those people really get into it. It's a great atmosphere to play in. We have fun going down there and playing," stated Morris.
The senior from Shallowater who has never lost to the Aggies wasn't the only player expressing an opinion about the Aggie Corps. Tech Center Stephen Hamby started laughing when he was asked about the Corps of Cadets. "I don't have anything to say about the Corps. My brother-n-law was in it I think, and needless to say he wore a kilt to my sister's wedding. They're just a different breed down there and I'm not to enthusiastic about the whole thing they got going." said Hamby.
Texas A&M will be looking to end a 3 game losing streak to Texas Tech on Saturday at Kyle Field. Kick-off is set for 11 A.M. on Fox Sports Net.
KBTX's award winning Aggie Game Day Show will begin at 10 A.M. live from the Aggie Fan Zone on KBTX News 3 and on line at kbtx.com.

Ags, just wanted to set a couple things straight. No one is making fun of the Army. Texas Tech and its students have always been strong supporters of the military. Obviously, these players were asked loaded questions. Members of the ROTC from either school who serve in our military are definitely better people than myself, as most every Red Raider will agree. I am attending the game this week and hope to have a great time. It will be fun to see my Aggie and Red Raider friends. College Station is always a great time. Good luck Saturday!

Quick question: do you know anybody who likes Tech/Tech fans other than the people that go there? I know I don't!

To james in Livermore, The Ag fans were taunting the idiots so that is why they shoved the goal posts into the stands? Is this correct? And they were actually standing? So freakin what! Does that make it right? Because someone verbally "taunts" you it makes it ok to try and shove a metal pole into someones face? Maybe hurting them?? Yeah, they asked for that, sure. If I were to stick my thumbs in my ears, wiggled my fingers while sticking my tongue out at you, does that mean I should have something thrown or shoved at me? Uhhhhh, no. There has been a bunch of classless people commenting, you son, are the worst.
