MANSFIELD, Texas – Former Texas A&M men’s tennis players Brett Joelson (Beaverton, Ore.) and John Nallon (Garland, Texas) moved on to the finals of the qualifying singles draw at the USTA Futures Pro Circuit tournament held Sunday afternoon at the Walnut Creek Country Club.

Joelson eliminated 12th-seeded and former A&M teammate Bryan Wooten (Houston, Texas) in second-round action, 6-3, 7-5. Meanwhile, Nallon defeated 10th-seeded and current A&M senior All-American Conor Pollock (San Antonio, Texas) who retired in the third set of the second-round match, 2-6, 6-3, 4-4. Joelson, Nallon and Wooten all competed for the Aggies from 2004-07.

Texas A&M has the possibility of having three former or current players in the singles main draw beginning on Tuesday with Nallon and Joelson in the running for a qualifying spot. Sophomore All-American Austin Krajicek (Brandon, Fla.) received a wild card entry into the main draw after reaching the semifinals last year in Mansfield. Krajicek, who is competing as an amateur, is also two months removed from playing in the men’s singles main draw at the 2008 U.S. Open and serving as a practice player for the 2008 U.S. Davis Cup Team in Spain.
