Aggie Men’s Swimming & Diving Takes Third at Big 12 Relays

LAWRENCE, KS -- The Texas A&M men’s swimming & diving team finished in third place at the Big 12 Relays held in Robinson Natatorium on Friday.

The University of Texas, currently ranked No. 1 in the nation, took the top spot with 117 points while No. 21 Missouri was second with 92. The Aggies finished third with 79 points.

A&M managed second place finishes in seven of the 16 races, proving strongest in the sprint freestyle and sprint medley relays.

The Aggies started the meet off by taking second place, ahead of the Longhorns, in the 4 x 25 medley relay. The foursome of Kyle Holland, Amini Fonua, Jason Bergstrom, and Jevon Atkinson hit the wall in 43.83, just .12 behind first place Missouri.

In the closest race of the day, the group of Brad Raiford, Casey Strange, Jevon Atkinson, and Jason Bergstrom took second in the meet’s final race, the 4 x 25 free relay, in 48.78, just .05 behind first-place Texas.

A&M also managed runner-up finishes in the 200 and 400 free relays, the 400 medley relay, the 3 x 50 butterfly relay, and the 3 x 50 backstroke relay.

The Aggies will return to action on Friday, Oct. 31, when they host No. 15 Penn State at the Student Rec Center Natatorium at 6:30 p.m.
