Aggie Women Shine At ITA

FORT WORTH, Texas – Texas A&M is sending two doubles teams to the quarterfinals, and freshman Lauren Santacroce will represent the Aggies in the singles quarterfinals at the ITA Southwest Regional at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on the TCU campus in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Aggie duo of Christi Liles and Elzé Pogieter advanced to the quarterfinals with an 8-4 victory against Kayla Duncan and Gaby Mastromarino of TCU today, and A&M’s Christina Amo and Ashley Turpin continued to impress with their 9-7 victory over Roxana Enica and Alina Shazhko of SFA also in the Round of 16.

Santacroce, a freshman from Spring, Texas, def. Mastromarino in singles and is the only A&M player to advance to the quarterfinals in the singles draw after Frank suffered a three-set loss to No. 5 seed Vanya Corovic of Texas and Christi Liles was topped by No. 2 seed Megan Falcon of LSU.

The tournament runs through Monday with the singles finalists and the doubles champion earning an automatic berth into the ITA National Indoor Championships, Nov. 6-9 in Charlottesville, Va.
