COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M men’s tennis team will close out fall tournament play this weekend at the University of Texas Invitational on Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center in Austin, Texas.
Junior Marcus Lunt (San Antonio, Texas) and freshman Colin Hoover (Victoria, Texas) will compete in the singles “A” flight, while sophomore Patrick Dean (Dallas, Texas) is entered in the singles “B” flight. Lunt is one of seven top seeds in the 64-player singles draw. Play begins on Friday at 12:10 p.m.
“We will send three of our players to the UT Invitational, while giving other members of our team some time to rest from the ITA Regionals,” Texas A&M head coach Steve Denton said. “This will be a great opportunity for Marcus, Colin and Patrick to get in more match play and improve on their games, prior to the spring season.”
The three-day tournament will feature players from host Texas, A&M, Rice, Marquette, Portland, Denver, Lamar, Saint Edward’s, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UT Arlington, UT Pan American and Oregon.
The Aggies will also send one doubles team with Lunt and Hoover participating in the 32-team draw. Doubles competition will begin on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
