LYONS -- It takes something special to beat at team on Halloween who's colors are orange and black, but that's what the Burton Panthers did Friday night by posting a 42-nothing win over Somerville at Yegua Stadium.
Somerville will take it right at Burton on its opening drive, Cody Holiday weaves his way 59 yards on what appeared to be a touchdown run. But the play is called back because of clipping. It winds up that's as close as Somerville would come to scoring.
Burton will score the first touchdown of the game that counts on quarterback Bobby Mathis' 5 yard run for an 8-nothing lead.
The Panthers will increase its advantage to 14-nothing following Daniel Patterson's 60 touchdown yard run later in the first quarter.
In the second quarter it's another Patterson, this time Brandon, scoring on a 59 yard gallop as Burton takes a 21-0 lead and goes onto win it 42 to nothing.
Burton improves to (6-2) and keeps its district title hopes alive heading into the Shiner game next week which will be in at Panther Field starting at 7:30.
