COLLEGE STATION -- Texas A&M junior Emily Peterson and senior Laura Grace Robinson were selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Teams.
Peterson carries a 3.96 cumulative grade point average as a finance major and was named to the Academic-All District first team. Robinson earned academic honors on the second team with a 3.78 GPA as a finance and accounting double major in the Mays Business School Honors Program.
A defender from Tulsa, Okla., Peterson started in 14 games and played in 16 to lead A&M to eight shutouts, including a league-best six in Big 12 play. Before redshirting the 2007 season after suffering a foot injury, Peterson was named to the Academic All-District first team, the Academic All-Big 12 first team, the All Big 12 first team, the Soccer Buzz All-Central Region second team and the NSCAA/adidas All-Central Region third team in 2006.
Robinson started 18 games and is one of the top offensive threats coming out of the midfield with five goals, including two game-winners, and three assists this season. The Houston, Texas, product is a two-time Big 12 Player of the Week and was named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week. In 2007, Robinson was an Academic All-Big 12 first team honoree and she was selected to the 2005 Big 12 All-Newcomer Team.
The No. 9 Aggie soccer team defeated Houston Baptist Thursday to close out the regular season and travels to San Antonio, Texas, for the Big 12 Championship Nov. 5, 7 and 9 at the Blossom Soccer Stadium.
