HUNTSVILLE- Sam Houston State senior wide receiver Catron Houston has been voted as Southland Conference "Offensive Player of the Week" after scoring on touchdown passes of 55, 66 and 64 yards in the Bearkats' 34-31 double overtime victory over Stephen F. Austin in the 83rd "Battle of the Piney Woods" Saturday, Nov. 1.
Houston caught four passes for 190 yards in the contest, accounting for all three Bearkat touchdowns in a 34-31 double-overtime victory at home against Stephen F. Austin.
The senior kinesiology major from Spring Woods High School in Houston also returned two kickoffs for 54 yards.
With the three scores Saturday, Houston became the seventh receiver in Bearkat history to post three touchdown catches in one game.
For the season, Houston leads the Bearkats in pass receiving with 31 catches for 606 yards and seven touchdowns. In three seasons at Sam Houston, Houston ranks No. 11 in all-time Bearkat receiving with career totals for 89 catches for 1,310 yards and 10 touchdowns.
