BRENHAM -- The Blinn Buccaneers (5-2, 7-2) finished the regular season ranked No. 7 in the NJCAA poll and will travel to Kilgore College (5-2, 6-3) on Saturday in the first round of the Southwest Junior College Football Conference playoffs. The winner will face either No. 1 Navarro College (7-0, 9-0) or Trinity Valley Community College (4-3, 6-3) in the conference championship game on Nov. 15.
Blinn’s 24-21 loss to Navarro last Saturday and Kilgore’s 34-9 victory over Cisco Community College resulted in the Bucs finishing in third place in the conference. Kilgore defeated Blinn 20-17 in triple overtime on Sept. 27.
The SWJCFC champion will earn the right to play in the CHAMPS Heart of Texas Bowl at Copperas Cove’s Bulldawg Stadium on Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. If the conference champion is playing for the national championship, the runner-up will play in the Heart of Texas Bowl.
